Some of our members don’t like using web browsers. 131 members have still not logged into the new website since it was launched in April. Fortunately, we have another way to keep up on Shelter Bay Yacht Club activities and your fellow members. There is now a mobile app for smart phones and tablets, SBYCLC, that you can download from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store depending on which mobile device you use. Search for "SBYCLC" on the App Store or "Shelter Bay Yacht Club" on Google Play. Family members can share the app on Apple devices with "Family Share" or on Google Play using “Family Library”.
You can access the app using the same username and password you have set up for our website. In addition to giving you full access to the website, it adds some features we think you will like. Meets, Chat and Direct Messaging are features similar to what you might already be using on other apps like Facebook, Twitter or WhatsApp. Once you download and open the app, these new features will also be available on your PC or laptop. Select “Mobile Features” on the main menu and you can chat, send direct messages or locate other members.
Meets lets members geographically locate each other when they opt to be locatable by other members, kind of like your own personal AIS.
Chat is a live chat function that provides a live chat format for posting messages up to 500 characters to members of a selected channel, with links, images and polls.
Direct Messaging allows members to send direct messages to other members.
We have made it a $2.00 paid app instead of a free one. Even though anyone can download the app, only logged in members can access the functions of the app. Shelter Bay Yacht Club will receive $.70 every time it is downloaded. If the app were free, we would be charged $.70 for each download without any control of how often it is downloaded.
