Dinners.jpg
Not all members of Shelter Bay Yacht Club are currently boaters and the winter months are not optimal for organized cruises. Between September and May, club activities transition to indoor events. During those months, there are monthly dinners, usually with a theme appropriate to the season. With the exception of the Commodore's Ball in September, the dinners are casual and low key. 2024 Crab Feed

There are two signature events during the year, Opening Day and the Commodore's Ball. Opening Day in May marks the official beginning of the boating season. The officers of the club raise their respective flags, the fleet is blessed and members we lost during the year are solemnly remembered. Opening Day includes a live auction, an online auction, prize raffles and a catered dinner. The raffle and auctions raise funds to defray the cost of other club events, keeping membership very affordable for all.  2024 Opening Day

The Commodore's Ball honors the outgoing commodore and is a little dressier than the monthly dinners. It is a great opportunity to thank the club volunteers who contributed so much to another successful year.

During the summer months, monthly barbecues take place on Friday evenings in the Shelter Bay picnic shelter. The barbecues include potluck side dishes and deserts with members bringing their own beverages and entrees to barbecue.

The Rear Commodore oversees the scheduling and planning of the club's on-shore activities. Shelter Bay Yacht Club events have been very successful thanks to the members who generously volunteer for each event.
